Buying Power Bands? Here's What You Need to Consider!
Power bands fitness are available in various sizes, resistances, and colors. Depending on your goal with the resistance bands, you can choose between light, medium, or heavy. The difference lies mainly in the level and the exercises you will perform with them.
Find out more about this and a few other aspects to consider when buying a pull-up band below.
Usage
Depending on what you will use the power band for, you can choose between different resistances. The bands are often used in rehabilitation, providing support or giving you more strength. Choosing the right resistance can help speed up your rehabilitation process.
We recommend involving a physiotherapist to determine the correct resistance. If that's not possible, opt for the light or medium power bands.
You can also use the pull-up resistance bands to make certain exercises
easier and give yourself a boost. When starting strength training, exercises like pull-ups or chin-ups can be quite challenging. Using a power band, you can perform assisted pull-ups and chin-ups. This will help you get stronger and eventually perform the exercises without the band.
If you need more assistance in the exercises, a heavy band is the best choice. If you're somewhere between a beginner and an intermediate, go for the medium resistance band.
If you intend to make the exercises
harder, you can also use the power bands for a real resistance bands power workout. In exercises like deadlifts, squats, and bench presses, the bands are used to make the so-called 'lockouts' heavier. A lockout is the final part of the lift that needs to be trained.
For intensifying the exercises, remember: the higher the resistance of the band, the harder the exercises become.
Lastly, the fitness bands can also be used for
stretching exercises. Examples include shoulder stretches and hamstring stretches. But there are many other stretching exercises possible. The bands help you stretch the muscles a bit further, as you can stretch them in different directions.
With higher resistance, requiring more strength to perform the stretch, we recommend using light or medium bands!
Level
Your level is closely related to the use of the pull-up assist bands. However, in terms of use, we mostly discussed making exercises heavier or lighter with equipment such as a pull-up bar.
The bands can also be used independently for strength exercises. Train your arms, shoulders, buttocks, or thighs. Depending on your level, you can choose the appropriate resistance band.
For beginners, we recommend starting with light. You'll need time to get used to the power band and build up your strength. If you're looking for more challenge, go for the medium variant. And for advanced users, the heavy power band is recommended.
Length
Pull-up bands are available in various lengths, starting from 30cm and sometimes extending to over 2m. A short band is used for different purposes than a long band. If you're looking for a shorter band, consider our
booty bands, a set of 3 resistance bands.
Matchu Sports power bands have a length of 104 cm. The bands are just over a meter long, ideal for various stretching and strength exercises for shoulders, legs, and arms. Also, due to their length, they are great for adjusting the intensity of workouts with equipment.
Material
Power bands are often made of stretchy material, necessary for using the elastic during stretching or exercises. They come in various materials like fabric, latex, rubber, and unique textile materials.
Matchu Sports power bands are made of latex material. The advantage is that the bands are made in one piece, without seams. Seams make the resistance band less durable as they are prone to snapping.
